My girlfriend came up with this idea: "let's go to Istanbul for a few days!" and although I am not that much of a long distance traveller, I agreed.
We found this real bargain and headed for Istanbul, had a wonderful hotel and 3 days to discover this fascinating city!
It was really VERY enjoyable!!!

Happy birthday, Heinz!
Istanbul must have been like ONE big fleamarket for you!!! I like the barber shop story!!
so long ago, that I have been in Istanbul. Your page makes me think about going again
I always loved to go to Barber Shops in southamerica, a little bit fear but a lot of enjoyment as well :-).....or.......in Turkey you don´t find women working in Barbershops.....? this might be the problem ;-)
Oh, I loved the bazaars in Istanbul. Great page.
Great page, great place too.
Interesting page!
Oh come on, barber shops are a real Turkish experience. They don't use the same razor and care about the sanitization. Before they become barbers, they have to go through long learning period and most of them state certified.
People who do not wants to have a barber adventure should prefer "coiffeurs" or should be selectif about barber shops. Tip: Barber shops inside the shopping centers(malls) are very good. Nice photo by the way!
