The tourist resort town of St Julian’s lies on the east coast of Malta, to the north of the large town of Sliema and the capital, Valletta.
The resort is built around the picturesque Spinola Bay, a nice bay with numerous small, colourful fishing boats and a number of expensive restaurants with terraces that overlook the bay. It is particularly picturesque when lit up at night.
It possesses all the facilities and amenities that you would expect from a tourist resort – ie supermarkets, bars, restaurants, fast food outlets, souvenir shops….
The neighbouring area of Paceville is the place to head for nightlife. It is said to have the liveliest nightlife on the whole island. It certainly boasts a number of lively bars and nightclubs. The area around Spinola Bay is a more laid-back alternative at nights, enjoying a meal in one of its varied restaurants offering all manner of international cuisine. St Julian’s also has a casino which is located on the headland.
The beaches in St Julian’s are not particularly appealing, while the “beaches” at nearby Sliema (rocks as opposed to sandy beaches) are the best option for soaking up a little sun. |
