The Coliseum at El Jem

The small town of El Jem is located between the cities of Sousse and Sfax.

By far its main attraction is its Roman Coliseum, similar in appearance to its more famous counterpart in Rome.

It is estimated that the ampitheatre was completed between 230 and 238 AD and that it could once hold 30,000 spectators.

Great photos of the amphitheatre. I love those old stadia. All-seater too: they were way ahead of their time.
