Norway - A wonderful peace of Earth | Norway, Setesdal mountain views above "Skomeneset" |
Having been"taken" to Norway by my parents when I was 13 years of age, I fell in love with this country from the very first sight. What a beautiful landscape! Unbelievable, how many hours/days you can walk without meeting a single human soul if you do not want to!
What weather is concerned: Unfortunately, Norway does not provide the best weather in the world and their summers are, so to speak - extremely short! Best time to go? Within the period of end of June to mid of August.
My family owns a cottage (house?) South of Norway since more than 35 years now and if the "northern weather condition" would not be what it is like, we would spend a lot more time there! That's for sure. Although, I must admit - we did have marvelous summers in Norway - now and then! At that times, it was as hot as in Italy and the water became approx. 20 to 21 degrees (fantastic! :-)))
My children (grown up already now) love the country same as we do and I have the feeling, this will go on for generations.
Having been travelling to Norway for more than 35 years now, I can say that is has changed a lot since that time. I do remember roads, which were very bumby and in bad condition. At that time you could not buy fresh food everywhere except from the daily one. Fresh vegetables, fruit and meats were difficult to find these days except in bigger cities (I have the feeling that apart from Oslo and Christiansand there are not many what the rest of the world might call big cities :-)).
All this has changed tremendously. I admire the Norwegian people for building new fantastic roads under very difficult circumstances (rocks everywhere!) - sometimes too many new roads for my taste.
Whenever you will have the chance to go to Norway - Don't miss out a round trip!! The landscape is absolutely breathtaking and various from minute to minute! |
| The Setesdal, Norway at winter time |
| | In the Setesdal, near Bygland at Bygle river Norway, a low populated country and still not too many tourists around - although more and more people seem to find their way to this beautiful peace of earth!!! Who wonders??! The Setesdal is said to be one of the nicest valleys in Norway. Well, that's what we think as well, but there are so many other beauties what valleys are concerned :-) !!!!! |
Setesdal from Kleiver-way, just above "Skomeneset" These picture has been taken around Easter time some years ago. We had been walking up the "Kleiver way", which leads up the mountains just opposite from "Skomeneset" near Bygland. Unfortunately I do not owe any good pictures from our holidays during summer times (my camara was a bad one at the time) | | | Norway at winter time in Setesdal |
