Thoughts about Travelling, VT and my Family

Tsitsikama-National Parc - Wonderful World
Hi, you folks out there in the world!

Well, this page will often be in the process of updating as I hope to go on traveling for a long time and moreover there is still such a lot from our past travels that might be interesting to others.

Well, about me: I am living North of Germany in a village North of Hannover/Lower Saxony. My husband and I, we adore travelling and especially for me its a passion (well, and my second passion is taking photos!)! I do believe that travelling widens your personel horizon and that getting prepared ,i.e. "doing your homework" for a journey is an important and necessary part of the journey itself and hence enlarges the pleasure/joy even before starting a journeyl! Moreover "true" travelers do not seem to have "generation" problems, this is our experience so far, as traveling seems to keep "one's mind fit and open" :-) !

I would like to point out, that any information given on my page is only based on personel experiences and that there might obviously exist lots of people who have different opinions or advices contraire to mine, etc. !

Most of destinations stated, we visiteted quite some time ago. This is why I am only going to build info pages about countries we visited in the "near" past. Infos about those countries travelled to "ages" ago might not be quite up to date - I'm afraid ;-)!

We - and sometimes friends who accompany/ied us - would surely not like to miss any of the fantastic experiences!!! We are not quite the type of "backpacker-travellers" (we have never been - and now it's probably also due to our age, I assume ;-) ) but we do certainly not belong to the typical "organised journey-type, i.e. package tour" ones. We prefer a good mixture of adventure, culture, people, accommodations standards and we like some things to be organised before we start but do usually also leave things "open" in order to be also somewhat free in our decisions when we reach our destinations.

Well, I had the opportunity to use VT for quite some time now, and I can honestly say that VT members rendered interesting and extremely useful info and were real good help to me so far! A great page!

I sincerely hope, some of the information given on my pages might become useful to you.
Dieter and Rita

May I introduce ....

That's my hubby Dieter (pronounced like "Rita" just with a "D" instead of the "R") and myself. We are ... well, I'm afraid - rather old already .... but to be honest, don't actually feel like this :-) :-) :-) :-)

We live north of Germany and north of Hanover in a small village and within a lovely green but flat area (great for biking!). We are lucky to live in our own house with huge garden and pool (which we can rarely use due to our unpredictable weather conditions here, though ;-) )

Our daughters, Janine and Dominique (1979 and 1981) are "out of house" and in fact the latter one got married in June 2004. That's how we have a son (in law) now, too! And meanwhile, since 24 Mai 05, we are GRAND Parents. Hyper-Great!

Dieter, my beloved hubby, is very sporting (tennis and jogging) and I love dancing. Tennis too, but had to give up the latter due to medical reasons.

And of course, we both adore traveling! Especially me! I am "abroad sick" most of the time! And the most exiting thing for me is planning a new trip!

If you like to carry on watching the pics and albums below, you'll get to know the rest of my family.

and this is our elder daughter, Janine...

here, at the age of 27 (Summer 2006).

Janine stayed abroad for more then 5 years (Thailand 1 year and Italy 4 years) and has recently returned to Germany (or for good?) Who knows?. She is our "world traveller No. 1". ;-) and is always longing for other countries to travel to and to live in. Sometimes very hard for us parents.

Dominique, our youngest daughter and husband Ralf

Dominique is 25 and Ralf 30 years old (here in in Summer 06.). They are the parents of our first grand child Angelina.

Meanwhile, (Oct. 06) Dominique is pregnant again (5th months) and will give birth to their second child around 8 March 2007!

How exciting! GREAT! WE LOVE IT!

Angelina - nearly 10 months old

Let me introduce to you our second youngest member of the family, born 24 May 2005, 20.04 hrs, 3540 g, 53 cm small. Name: ANGELINA Brenning :-) :-)

She is 9 1/2 months old on the pic.
Babies always appear to me as being one of the biggest wonders on this world - over and over again!

This pic was taken by Dominique and Ralf (good photographers they are, aren't they?) in order to prepare the invitation card for her Christening.

Well, "small Angel"( thats what Angelina stands for ):
HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME IN THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD !!

Angelina, everyones "sweetheart/little princess"

This is at her 1st birthday on 24th of May 2006. She is such a wonderful child and a real cuty :-) :-) :-) ....

.... and she loves babies.

Well, she's got one at home since 13.3.07 ... a baby boy. She kisses and hugs him a lot - sometimes too much, though ... ;-)

New Born Baby Boy - Julien, Leandro Brenning

Jippih - our second grand child is born. His name is Julien, Leandro and he was 57 cm, 4345 g and his head 37 cm at the night of birth (1.06 h) on 13th March 07. A BIG Boy indeed! Oly 2 weeks later his weight is already approx. 4900 g. ... Well, a really BIG boy indeed :-) !

House and Garden North of Germany

Our House and Garden at a Small Village near Hann.

Well, this is were we live - day for day - except for those splendid times, when we are on holiday.

I must admit though , it is not a bad place to live in at all. Suppose we are quite lucky that we had inherited this "refuge" :-) .
