The European Union is the largest tourism destination and market worldwide. In this page is impossible write about all the countries or cities of touristic importance in European Union, but is important write about this new Europe.The countries forming the European Union and the year of membership are:
1957: Belgium, Germany, Netherland, Luxemburg, Grance and Italy.
1973: Denmark, Ireland, and United Kingdom.
1981: Greece
1986: Spain and Portugal
1995: Austria, Finland and Sweden
2004: Ciprus, Cezch Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland and Malta.
2007: Romania and Bulgaria.
Turkey and Croatia are waiting negociations.
In 2007 European Union has borders with Norway, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City, San Marino, Albania, Macedonia, Moldova and Turkey. This borders will change in future with the next members of rhe Union.

EU flag

The European Union´s flag is dark blue with a circle with twelve gold stars representing solidarity and harmony between the peoples of Europe and this number of stars has nothing to do with the number of Member States but with the tradition of number twelve as symbol of perfection, completeness and unity. The flag will remain unchanged regardless of EU enlargements.
The anthem of the European Union has the melody from the Ninth Symphony composed in 1823 by Ludwig Van Beethoven and the letter of the "Ode to Joy" written in 1785 by Friedrich von Schiller.

The European currency is the EURO (circulating in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Finland, Netherland, Belgium, Slovenia and Luxemburg), but the others members has their own money. The EURO is the currency of other countries not forming the UE (Andorra, Vatican City, Montenegro, Monaco and San Marino).
