starting down south (pronounced darrrn sarrrf!)

I was born in this country, went to school in this country, still live in this country suppose I should love this country. Thinking about it I do love my country but see it in a different light each time I return from any travels.
Im a Watfordian, a southerner northerners would call me a cockney but I ain't (know whaddi mean?)
Ive travelled in my days so far quite a bit of the U.K. for work and leisure purposes. Im gonna split these three U.K. chapters into 3 which are most relevant to my life so far... The South, The North and everywhere else.
Fact - The South is warmer than the North - but not like tropically!
My Favourite places down south are...

Watford
St Albans
Tunbridge Wells
Canterbury
Newquay
Brighton
Wincester
Southend on Sea
London

My fave food down south is propper East London Pie & Mash with Green Gravy.... its bloomin lubbly jubbly
Followed very very closely by Saveloys (much different to Northern Saveloys)

My fave drink down south is a nice pint of Real Ale (londons pride or Abbots Ale)

If your in my old hometown dont miss a trip to cassiobury park and a walk along the canal path (the grand union canal) I spent a lot of time in my youth there fishing and playing.

I left Watford when I was 20 to move up North where my family originate...

Reliving in my family roots... up norf!

Fact - The North is a quality place to live.
Im pleased my Dad moved down south before I was conceived, born and raised. I had a nice warm colour filled childhood. My memories are reflected in photographs my parents have of sunny days packed with smiles which you couldnt fake in a million years.
Now I live up North, Im older and am 32 nearly 33 in 7 years I will be a true halfy halfy (half my life up north and half down south) No regrets to be honest even if I can feel the arthritis starting up! (its more likely RSI)
(readers voice "ahem... whats it liek up North?")
Up North is BRILLIANT!
Fun people who are down to Earth
sometimes they try a bit too hard for my liking and could chill out a bit, but hey who am i too judge.
My reasons for the North been totally ace are... Beautiful Countryside, Reasonable Prices, History Soaked Places (a lot of secret treasures which would be serious national land marks if they had a southern postcode.)
Ace Food - big helpings for a little money
Ace Art - the baltic in Newcastle deserves a look as does the Sunderland Librarys Contemporary Art Gallery.
Leisure... I currently cycle, swim, jog, play football basketball and have various places to do these things.
The North is a gateway to everywhere and not a bad place for a base.
Who wants to live inside a hotspot when you can breath better elsewhere and eat a better hotpot???
(HotPot - Northern Delacacy you must try it)
Fish and chips in the north are lush
Theakstons Old Peculiar is my favourite beer of the North.
The Angel of The North is a sight to observe.
My Fave Record Shop up North is a cool vinyl store in Leeds ... Crash Records - trustworthy dudes who never stitch you up with duff tunes...
If you ever hear the expression... "its grim up north" agree and have the last laugh because grim it ain't.
Open your eyes and look beyond the clouds and into the cheviot hills.

The leftovers

Other Places In the UK I like and have been to are as follows.
Glasgow - Fab Scottish Party City
Edinburgh - As above but with a castle
Jersey - Nice Channel Island

Any questions send me an e - mail I will do my best to help you out.

see ya later mate
