Lake Saif-al-Malook

Lake Saif-al-Malook
Naran is the base camp to
excursions to other valleys and you
must stop here to go see the Lake
Saif-ul-Malook which is 10 km west
of Naran in the mountains and only
reachable by Jeep or foot.

By Jeep, it takes 45 minutes and it
is one of the most dangerous and
breath taking journey at the same
time but rewards are amazing once
you get up there.
The Lake is at a height of 3,215 m /
10,550 ft. above sea level.

It is accessible by jeep, on ponies,
or by 3 hours upward hiking
from Naran at 10 km to its west. The
lake is encircled by high peaks
and the 17,500 ft. Malika Parbat (the
queen mountain) is standing
to its east, reflecting its image in the
water.

Naraan

Naran is situated in the Valley of Kaghan in the North of Pakistan.
It is about 9 hours drive from
Lahore. The Valley is about 160
kilometers long and Naran is a
beautiful town which includes lakes,
peaks and lush greenery. Since I
decided to go in November, there
isn't much greenery and snow is
started to fall. People are leaving
for there residences in the
mountains where they actually stay until the snow stops in the months
of march or April and start their
lives.
During the months of snow, they live
off the wood they have collected
over the summer months and a lot
of dry food and that has been their
life style for centuries.

Locals in Naran

Locals in Naran having a smoke after the breakfast, healthy life style , huh :-)
