My family lived in Madras for over 10 years. Actually, we moved to Iowa this April. My daughter and grandson still live there.

Madras is not the entertainment mecca of the world. If you want to shop 'til you drop go to Portland or Bend. It is a nice rural community with a population of about 5000 people. Teens, as in other small communities, have very little to occupy their spare time, but that is typical of small towns. If, however, you want to raise a family, you will like it there.

Madras is boring in good ways. The crime rate is low. Hunting and fishing are local activities as is the rodeo. If you like a western life-style you will love it there.
