The church is open from Easter to mid-September, Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm, and July and August on Saturdays. The tower is open from April through September, Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.

The Anne Frank House is probably the most famous canal house in Amsterdam. The rear house or "annex" is where Anne Frank and her family went into hiding from 1942 to 1944 to escape deportation by the Germans. Her famous diary, which she wrote while in hiding, is on display as part of the permanent exhibit.

The queues can be a bit long, especially in the summer months. To avoid the crowds, try to visit early in the morning or late in the evening. The museum is open daily from 9am to 5pm (to 7pm from June to August)

Here's an example of the fine tile work on the wall below the gabled portion of the museum's roof. Sorry, but it's not very clear in this picture. Trust me, it's fine work! Gabled roofs of many shapes and sizes are a common feature throughout Amsterdam and the entire region. .

ozalp Tue Jun 19, 2007 06:44 UTC How lucky you are! Rijksmuseum was under construction when I was there. Useful page. Greetings from Istanbul. | middelburrug Wed Nov 15, 2006 12:55 UTC Just thought I'd let you know the Dutch Wikipedia claims the NEMO building looks like a boat by accident. It is built on the foundations of the tunnel underneath it and is the mirror image of the tunnels entrance | pabertra Mon Jan 24, 2005 01:22 UTC Great photos and tips on Europe's sin city! I have a feeling the red light district is similar to the one in Antwerp. Great tip about the houseboats, that might be an interesting place to stay! Best, Paige | bpacker Tue Sep 14, 2004 01:38 UTC Hi there and thanks for dropping by my hcmc page. I can't help but check out your views on amsterdam. Great pg u got here!
