Day 10 (see my Italy page for our full itinerary)
Conveniently located between the Tuscan hill towns and the Cinque Terre, we managed to visit Pisa on a four-hour stop over from Siena en route to Monterosso al Mare. At the time, the lockers at the train station were closed due to an increased sensitivity to terrorism, so we had to carry our packs with us. Since we tend to pack light, we managed just fine.
From the train station we hopped on a taxi and went straight to the Cathedral complex. We had plenty of time to see the Leaning Tower and the Cathedral, the two main attractions. After getting our fill, we called for a taxi and headed back to catch the next train to Monterosso al Mare.

That must have been nice to see the wedding! When I visited Pisa in 83 it was dark, rainy and dreary!! But it was still cool to see the tower and there weren't many other tourists around!
Sounds like a nice day trip!
Totally lucky to be at the cathedral while a wedding was going on. Didja get any cake?
Two main attractions maybe, but I could still wish for two dozen more tips. . .
Lovely picks and helpful logistical tips.
