We would never have found ( much less tried) this delicious crab noodle soup if it wasn’t for our excellent local host Claire of Hidden Hanoi. She introduced us to this delicious bun rieu soup at 9B Hoa Ma Street followed by an assortment of tasty morsels at the food stands of Cho Hom market. This 90 minute unforgettable food fest was only $15US. It was well worth every penny!

This is a food stall at Cho Hom Market where we tried fresh spring rolls and green papaya salad. The lady serving the spring rolls was embarrassed by the pictures I was taking of her. Our host Claire told her that I was taking the pictures because she was so beautiful!

After a morning of shopping for ceramics at Hang Da Market with our host An from Hidden Hanoi, we headed to Bun Bo Nam Bo for a delicious bowl of Bun Bo, a hardy bowl of beef soup. An explained that this restaurant serves only the one dish and boy was it good!

Our Hidden Hanoi street food tour ended with this delicious glass of che, a fruity dessert prepared to our taste. After an afternoon of exploring Hanoi’s hidden cultural and culinary treasures, this che really hit the spot!

Hi Quell, Re the restaurant you would never have found: Noodle Shop, 9B Hoa Ma St. How do I find Clair of Hidden Hanoi? I'm going to Hanoi in May. Thx, suzanne.stephen@gmail.com

The one pillar pagoda is truly amazing ;-)

I would think USD15 spent in a market in Vietnam was horribly expensive. My experience in HCMC was that an excellent meal costs about USD 1 to USD 2 per person, unless we are eating in a international chain-restaurant at international prices.

Gosh! It looks very delicious! Yum Yum!
