Mexican paradise, an American Playground Whether you are going to Cancun to party your brains out at one of the "fun seeker", Hotel Zone hotels, or you're going there to relax, escape from every day life and be with your honey (Honeymooners!), you'll be thrilled with every aspect of Cancun.
Just do your research first. We did!
This is a shot taken at Aventura Spa Palace, the resort we picked for our honeymoon. We chose it for many many reasons. One: Xpu Ha, our first choice, was sorta wiped off the planet by Hurricane Emily in 05.
Two: we wanted privacy, adults-only, and the 'option' to party & get crazy if we wanted. Aventura holds within it's walls a very cool disco called Andromeda. Oh, the fun to be had in another country! |
| | Wildlife, Flora, Fauna, and ... big ol bugs Coming from 6 degree weather in the Midwest just after a big storm and then as we learned later... just BEFORE a big-arse storm.... we were both just totally soaking in Cancun's picture-perfect landscaping... flowers... birds... trees... flavors... and well the moths. Very big, colorful owl-eye looking fluttery things the size of your hand!
I for one am a wildlife nut, a nature lover... if that's your sort of thing, Cancun is a definite. If you are irked by things that fly, or large colorful flowers and the insects that go with them... go to Denver or something.
We even saw dragonflies divebombing near us in the lagoon. Brilliant! |
| | This is Tulum You can't get into those little buildings (they're roped off, I guess they're afraid people might do stuff in there eh), but they're dandy to stare at. You can swim in that little light blue area down there, too.
Tulum is one of the tours, down by the more beautiful area of the 7... at the tip? Neat little shops, but oh-boy-oh-boy is it HOT while at Tulum. Something about being 109 degrees in the shade, no shelter... well ya just want to go grab an icy cold drink and dive into the ocean.
Tulum is offered on pretty much any tour package at any hotel you stay at, from what I gather. The place is great and all, if you want to see an awesome beach and go shopping for Mexican trinkets; it's just sort of a trip down from the Hotel Zone. If you're closer to the Cozumel end of Cancun, I highly recommend visiting Tulum. |

| Pros: | "Food, drinks, scenery & ocean... top notch! They CATER to honeymooners!!!" | | Cons: | "Rude Americans are the only drawback. Watch out for snobby old people." | | In A Nutshell: | "Perfect for partying, honeymooning, friend-trips, etc.!" |
