Holland Festival balloons on Beursplein - Amsterdam

Amsterdam...a city very close to where I actually live. To me Amsterdam means work, party and shopping. I have always worked in Amsterdam. First at the Krasnapolsky Hotel on Dam Square and nowadays I work for ABN AMRO Bank in the south of the city. So I can say I come here all the time.
But even though I am in Amsterdam daily I have hardly visited any of the touristic sites. Of course you've got Dam Square and the Red Light District, bu I for example haven't even visited the Rijksmuseum of Van Gogh Museum. They are on my to do list but thus far.. nope... haven't seen yet. So keep checking back again and again, since things will be added every now and then.

Amsterdam is a great place to meet other VT'ers. Almost everyone that comes to NL will also pay a visit to Amsterdam and so it's easy to set up a meeting here! A while ago there was a meeting organised by igraine (ingrid) where I attended only for the last part after dinner, the day was already over but I still had a chat with some people. After that, it must've been in April I met member goingplaces (Paula) again, whom I had also met at the Rotterdam meeting. On July 29 I met up with S.D.Artur (Sarah) who is not a member anymore. Most recently I organised a meeting in honour of ThereseHeather. I met Heather while I was in New York in October 2006. She was travelling around Europe for a month and she cme to Amsterdam as well. There were ten of us at the meeting. We had drinks in Arendsnest beer cafe and dinner at Kantjil & de Tijger, an Indonesian restaurant. After dinner we went to Hotel Arena for a party, 90's NOW, which is held there every first Friday of the month. Definitely check it out when your around at this day!!

In a nutshell:Amsterdam is the place to be!!

yeah, the red light district is definitely a must-see, but I'm really glad we didn't spend all our time there like most of my friends who've visited amsterdam!
