    • Situated a few kilometers from Hoofddorp is Cruquius. This little town is home to the Cruquius steam pumping station. The machine has recently been renovated and it is working again!! See how it pumps up water, just like it did 150 years ago. Right now the building houses a museum, that informs you on how land was and is cultivated in the Netherlands. It is very interesting and you will learn something about the history of the Netherlands too!

    To get to Cruquius you can take bus 140 from the train station of Hoofddorp and Haarlem and get out at Cruquius Museum.
