My hometown Zwaanshoek

Think twice before deciding to actually come here!

Zwaanshoek is a very small town near Haarlem and Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. The region is called Haarlemmermeer and consists of many vilages like Zwaanshoek. The town has about 2000 inhabitants, whereas the whole area of Haarlemmermeer has about 110000 inhabitants. People live mainly in Hoofddorp(60000) and Nieuw-Vennep(20000).

Not many people can say they were born in Zwaanshoek, but I am one of them, don't know if I can be proud of that ha... ;-)

Activities in Zwaanshoek can really be summed up in just one word which is 'none'. And I am not kidding you!! Well maybe there are some things to do. Zwaanshoek has a tennisclub with 7 courts, a school for the kids' first 8 years of school, one supermarket, which is also a postoffice, and a drugstore. Furthermore there is one 'restaurant' called "De Kemphaan" which is basically only a snackbar where you can buy frech fries, and various kinds of snacks like the famous dutch 'kroket'.

Every year in August there also is a partyweek in a tent right next to the townhall 'Oase'. This year it was from 21-24 August, so you missed, maybe next year!!

The good thing about Zwaanshoek is that it is quite centrally located, next to cities such as Hoofddorp and Haarlem. The beach is quite near aswell, only 40 minutes on bike to Zandvoort. Amsterdam airport is only 15 minutes by car from my house, so that is very convenient aswell.

To conclude this part I hope you like my hometown and if you plan on living in the Netherlands with a bunch of little kids don't hestitate to move to Zwaanshoek, because they'll have a great time!!

Pros:"Small and cosy town to live in with kids"
Cons:"Nothing to see and do here"
In A Nutshell:"You'd better not come this boring town ;-)"

Leuk plekje om te wonen. Ook wel leuk om te verlaten voor het maken van reizen! :)
