My trip to the Blue Mountians National Park is actually my first one out of Sydney. But what a trip. It is beautiful there. I went here with three guys I met in the hostel. Well I actually only met two of them in the hostel and the other guy I know from the Exchange Office.
We took the train on Friday around noon from the central station. The train takes around two hours to get to Katoomba. Katoomba is the main town in the Blue Mountains National Park. From here you can also see the Three Sisters. Other towns where the train stops are Leura and Wenworth Falls.
The weather was absolutely great all weekend. Not too cold and not too hot either. Just perfect conditions for walking a track. So that is what we didon Saturday. We went to the tourist information office at Echo Point (Three Sisters lookout). They have many interesting routes that you can walk. We wanted to do an easy to medium graded walk for a few hours. We decided to do the Ruined Castle track. We didn't really know what to expect, but it was an awesome walk!! I will make a travelogue about the track soon, so make sure to check that out.
- Pros:More to see than just the Three Sisters
- In a nutshell:Beautiful National Park only two hours out of Sydney centre

Hi Martin! Nice pic with the three sisters...I have 3 sisters myself (literally, hehehe)...Greetings from Arizona, Norman :)
Great start . . . I'm waiting for the Ruined Castle travelogue! ;-)
A very nice looking spot that you have here!! But I still need to see the Travelogue! The 3 Sisters scene reminds me of the 3 Rondavels in South Africa's Drakensberg Mts. (see my Sabie page for a photo)!!
Thanks for the tips! Gonna visit the blue mountains also, thinking about going with the train. Is it easy to find the walking-tracks there? Hope you have some info! Thanks, gr. karin
2 hours by train is indeed a long way for us Dutchies. Especially since that train ride will take you into the mountians in 2 hours...
Great info Martin, glad you've managed to make it out of the city. Gotta see the Blue Mountains myself some day.
