This is a great hostel though sometimes it could be a bit cleaner, but... it's a hostel. You pay 125$ for a week which is not too expensive. You can get cheaper hostels, but these are usually located in Kings Cross, which is not the place where I want to stay. The people working in the hostel are very friendly and almost all of the backpackers I met here are great aswell. There are a few tv rooms with foxtel and on every floor there is a balcony, which is a great place to hang out. The kitchen facilities could be improved but this is also a great place to hang out.
Unique Qualities: The Harbour City Hotel has four stories, 222 beds. It's located on a prominent corner block in Woolloomooloo, Sydney. It's bounded by Sir John Young Crescent (west), Crown Street (east) and at the rear of the building Cathedral Street (south). Opposite The Harbour City Hotel are the 'Domain', and the entrance to the Domain car park. The Domain is often used as an entertainment venue located in and around the Domain grounds there are playing fields, walkways, a cafe, and the Art Gallery of NSW. In the background Sydney's horizon ccan be seen with Centre Point Tower being the most prominent feature. Also nearby... Sydney's 'Hyde Park' and 'War Memorial' are just a short walk from the hostel.

This is one of the best (and most expensive) hostels in the city. It has all the facilities you might want. The rooms are clean and the beds very good. Toilets and shower areas are very clean, though they seem a bit to small for the size of the hostel. Because of its size the hostel can feel a bit impersonal. It is nice for a few nights, but if you intend to stay in Sydney for a longer time I would suggest to stay at another more personal hostel, like Harbour City mentioned in another tip.
Unique Qualities: The hostel has a pool at the rooftop, a bar in the basement, lockers, that are NOT free, a restaurant, very well equiped kitchen and large and clean fridges and gas stoves, thank god no hotplates! There is also a sauna. I stayed in a room at the fifth floor and the room had a balcony with great views of the train station and a part of the city!
