  • Ever imagine flying in an open cockpit along the shoreline of the Pacific coast in a vintage biplane?
A husband and wife team own and operate this LB treasure. I see them fly over my house nearly everyday. The view of the coastline and the local cities are unbeatable, as is the feeling of the wind in your hair. If you are lucky, you might even get to take the controls. On my flight I was able to look down and see whales in their migratory path. A breathtaking experience.

  • Take a day trip to Catalina Island
You may have heard the song '26 miles across the sea,Santa Catalina is waitin for me.' Many people describe a day on this island like visitng another country. The rush of LA feels thousands of miles away.

Directions: On a clear day you can see Catalina sitting peacefully out in the Pacific Ocean.

Take the Catalina Express from Golden Shore Terminal.
Tickets cost $42 r/t and you can even bring your bike or surfboa

  • I've added Shoreline Village because of its location, oceanfront restaurants and view of the Queen Mary. It is possible to see Catalina Island from here on a clear day.

All of the shops in Shoreline Village cater to tourists and sell somewhat tacky beach themed souveneirs.

There is also a huge carousel for children to ride and a lovely park on the other side of the parking lot.

  • Wander through the maze of exhibits and view marine life from the Pacific Ocean. The Aquarium is a a non profit organization which seeks to instill a sense of wonder, respect, and stewardship for the Pacific Ocean and its inhabitants. Exhibits include the So Cal/Baja Gallery; Northern Pacific Gallery; Tropical Pacific Gallery; and the Jelly Fish Gallery.

The newest exhibit is Shark Lagoon. Visitors can pet smaller sharks(nurse, bamboo, zebra
and sand sharks) as well as sting rays and then peer into an underwater tank at an amazing collection of dangerous sharks.

The Aquarium is open 9-6 daily. Parking is $2 an hour. Admission is 18.95 for adults. For $30 you can purchase a dual pass for the Aquarium and the neighboring Queen Mary.
