NYC

by Agraichen - last update: Jun 21, 2007

Can you believe it? I lived in Boston for 22 years, Hershey PA for 2 and only spent a total of 3 days, when I was 15, in New York City when my High School band played two concerts at the Worlds Fair.

Now I've just completed my third trip back to the city in the last 4 years. It was great.

The "long weekend" began on Thursday with a bit of a delayed flight. But the weather was great and the weekend passed all too quickly. The highlights began with a VT Meeting at Agozar (2-1 from 5-8). Dinner with a new VT acquaintance met in the Galapagos last Dec at Aroma. Saturday more VT meets and lunch at La Portena in Jackson Hights.

No trip to NYC is complete without theatre so Sat night and Sun night were spent on Broadway.
On my first "tourist trip" in 2003, Saturday dawned bright and COLD (ok, 34 isn't really cold by NYC terms, but when you're used to just shirt-sleeves in CA, well, 34 is COLD!!!!).

Thankfully there's a decent (ok some don't think Starbucks is decent but...it was hot and consistant) coffee shop in the next block, then we're on to the NYC International Short Film Festival review. Our mission, to review the first film the "kid" ever produced as a university junior
YES, it is morning and YES they are MINE.
And, "Yes Virginia...." it was a two coffee morning....Keep the hands warm while keeping the insides warm, while waking up for an 8:00 AM "call" after getting in (closing the set) at 5:00 AM.

The film review went well, so on to the hints and tips of NYC seen in only a weekend....

Pros:"Broadway; Broadway; Broadway...."
Cons:"Hmm...ok, it's a "big dirty city...." BUT IT's NYC !!!"
In A Nutshell:"Gotta get back as a real tourist."
