Las Vegas

Bellagio fountains

Las Vegas conjurs up the impression of Lights, Music, and Gambling, but today's Las Vegas is becomming more of a family destination as well.

Walking "The Strip," Bellagio, always attracts a crowd; the water cannon show set to music is simply a joy to behold. The best in my opinion is the "USA" show that culminates with Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA. I've seen it 3 times over the years and it has always had the crowd cheering and applauding. I actually saw it stop traffic when it was introduced.

The shopping mall, art gallery, jewlry shops, Chehuley glass celing, and Cirque de Sol theatre "O" all make Bellagio a great destination on the Las Vegas strip, but come nightfall, the fountains stop people in their tracks as the water show with lights begins "it's dance" (the daytime shows are good but not as dramatic).

Paris

Not to be out done, across the street from Bellagio, you will find "Paris" with more incredible food, and entertainment. The exact 1/2 scale replica of the Eiffel Tower begins in the casino and rises far above the streets. The view of the "strip" from the top of the tower is wonderful (though the night helicopter tour does it one better at a 'slightly' higher price), but don't look at the check if you eat at the sky high restaurant up there...

However to be fair, the restaurants in the "mall" area of Paris (walking to Bally's) are relatively reasonable for the price and quality. It's not gormet, but in most places the food is quite good, service is reasonably fast (especially if you are a "Diamond member") and you keep in mind that they are trying to serve thousands more than your normal restaurant back home.

Something for the kids

Just down the street from Paris and Bellagio is the Mirrage with the former famous Sigfried and Roy lions. A visit to their "secret garden" is a mini adventure. It's a great location to take kids.

Athough the showroom now has other acts due to the unfortunate tiger accident that injured Roy, the gardens' remain open. A bit expensive but for animal lovers consider the cost of upkeep for a facility such as this.
