Thankgiving morning....3 dozen of theses critters decided to "raid" the area and share it with 4 deer munching on my fruit trees. The turkeys are now a permanant fixture. Every day a few show up to "graze" under the trees. AND periodically the deer come back as well.
I'm a softie with the wild life... I give the birds seed to at least get them to do "their thing" on the ground not the roof and the deer just stand around and watch, content to munch on roses...oh, well, they'll grow back.
Danville may seem like a small town just outside of San Francisco, but the scenery, variety of restaurants, shops and history is wonderful. There are about 35 restaurants just in the small "down town" area.
A few of my favorites are "Pete's Brass Rail and Carwash," The Uptown Cafe and The Tower Grill.
Besides, how many other places have wild turkeys roosting on your roof-top, deer and coyote co-habitating in your back yard, and the latest Ferrari, Lamborgini, Meseratti, Astin Martin or Bently driving down the street as casual as BMW or MB (LOL-sad but true). |
| | Danville Street Scenes One thing about Danville, you don't find in too many other places, is car "eye candy." With many of the Bay area athletes living near by, weekends are a virtual car show. You never know just what will be driving down the street. There was a custom 37 Ford parked just behind this Lamborgini. But one of the best things about Danville is its generosity. With all the disposable income, fund raising events like the Concours d'Ellegance 2007 Concours photos raising money for Parkinsons disease research are frequent and well attended. |
| | Blackhawk The "unincorporated" area of Danville houses the community of Blackhawk currently noted for its two championship golf cources and a variety of mega mansions. One of the more noted is the 25,000 Sq Ft domicile owned by the devloper of the area. First established in 1917 by a San Francisco resident (Ansel Easton) as a ranch and summer home, the property became known world wide for it's prized Shorthorn cattle and Shire horses. Today, the rolling hills which back up to Mt. Diablo State Park, Blackhawk is home to some of the bay areas most notable residents. The first group of homes came in the late 1970's and were quickly followed with many more pushed by the CA real estate boom in the 1980's. The Blackhawk Auto Museum and the University of CA Berkely Museum of Art, Science and Culture are center pieces of the "plaza" which is the entrance to the 5 gated communities that comprise the Blackhawk area. |
