Moorea is shaped like an isosceles triangle but some say it is the shape of a heart.
Situated 12 miles west of Tahiti, it is the second most popular tourist attraction in French Polynesia after Tahiti.
The island is encircled by a lagoon of some of the most translucent green sea imaginable. |
| | Watch your toes in shallow water. These guys are friendly, but like to nibble. When you walk, allways "shuffle" to ensure you don't step down on a ray an frighten it. The "stings" can hurt...or in the unfortunate case of the late Steve Irwin (Crocadile Hunter), they can kill you, but that was a very freak accident in not normal circumstances. In the shallows these guys are just another "fish" nibbling at your toes.
However, a bit of raw squid in your hand and you'll have a pack of them practically sitting in your lap. They can be great fun as long as you don't step on them and get a barb "sting." |
| | Tourist attractions galore. There are plenty of Motu Picnic tours to choose from. All of the "guides" explained the history of their island and pointed out the different birds, animals and fish seen on the tours. |
