Belek in Novembrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...

Hotel Sillyum, Belek

The Trip There ...

We booked the travel to Belek and the Hotel Sillyum through MediPlus Reisen over the internet. We paid in full and received the tickets promply. A wellness holiday in November is just what we wanted. naturally the price doubled because we wanted to take the vacation during the school holidays in Bavaria (one week, all inclusive €550 each)
Then they phoned to tell us we were travelling a day later than planned. I should heve cancelled there and then but didn't ...

The Airport ...

We had great service at Munich airport. They organized a wheelchair for my wife (who suffers from MS) and brought us directly to the aircraft. In Turkey they pushed us off the plane and into a bus which dropped us at the foot of a flight of stairs leading ot the overcrowded passport control area. Nobody knew about our request for assisance, so I had to get a local policeman to go through passport control and ask for a wheelchair. After that we were whisked through passport and customs control with one little drawback, I needed a visa because I am a British citizen. "Ten Pounds please ..." said the nice man at the visa counter.
"I only have Euros" I said.
"OK fifteen Euros then please".
Had I US Dollars it would have been cheaper $15

The Hotel ...

As we reached the bus I knew we were in trouble. The tour guide introduced himself as Turkeys best but just the same told us the hotel we had chosen was overbooked and we were to go to another hotel of equal quality. Unfortunatly instead of a 5 star wellness hotel with easy access rooms, we were shipped to a nice hotel with rooms in chalets in the forest with cobble stone roads about 1km from the main hotel.
We managed to get to the real hotel the next day but that meant we missed the whole afternoon of the first day and the second day we eventually relaxed at 4:30PM.

something similiar happened to me in alanya, turkey. the receptionist wanted to cash for a late check-out . I also refused to pay without a receipt and was threatened. But when I simply went out the door nobody tried to stop me.
