A planned community.

Another name for this town is "bedroom community". There's not a "center of town", so to speak. Citrus Springs is plotted for 35,000 lots with about 32,000 set aside for residential use. The population should eventually rise to about 100,000 people. But currently the population is estimated at about 6,000+. While it was started with retirees, there are now many families here. It's considered a middle class community and is two hours north of Tampa. Although a toll way is planned, which would bring the travel time down to 1 hour they say.

It is a lovely place with lot's of trees.

For a "new community" it has some lovely sections with lots of trees and privacy between neighbors.

Swimming on the porch / lanai. - Citrus Springs Must .... Local Customs (1)

have a swimming pool. I don't think I could live here without a swimming pool ... and it would have to be screened in... more travel advice
