Lovely parks lovely gardens. I walked for nine hours in Potsdam around the gardens and visiting buildings, like the famous ranch type house used for the Potsdam Conference. Even if you don't wish to see inside the museums the gardens are well worth walking around. Scholoss Cecilienhof pictured here is to be found in Neuer Garten. |
| | Scholss Sanssouci Sanssouci was designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1829, for the heir later King Friedich Wilhelm IV. The palace is surrounded by picturesque landscaped park designed by Peter Lenne. The palace is closed on Mondays but if you only wish to visit the park it means a lot less people in the park. |
A little history! Potsdam is an independent city bordering Berlin, its the capital of Brandenburg. The first historical reference to Potsdam dates from AD 993. Tourists flock to see the royal Park Sanssouci: palaces Marmorpalais & Schloss Cecilienhof; Neuer Garten, Hollandisches Viertel and the film studios of Babelsberg. | | |
