We travelled from Rust trough St. Margarethen to Eisenstadt, Westwards on 52. Taking 50 South driving trough Trausdorf, Wulkaprodersdorf and stopped for lunch in Mattersburg. It was a warm day and lunch could only be Ice-dream, coffee and milk...Wonderful. There is country air in Mattersburg and the shop windows were full of Winter fashions. Displays of traditional dress is not for show but are beautifully made and luxuriously adorned garments of excellent quality. I hoped to see an occasion adorned with this exquisite dress. In Salzburg I did! |
| | Lockenhous Wiesmath to Oberpullendorf, Hochstrass and Lockenhous. Lockenhous is where this perfectly preserved castle sits imperiously perched and wonderfully obvious for tens of Kilometres. Onto Bernstein, Oberwart, Stegersbach and finally Badwaltersdorf. |
| | Pampered Badwaltersdorf is the site of "Quellenhof", a Spa resort. For those that know, I am sure they will permit me to explain to others. Enterprising villages, in appropriate areas, tap into underground streams, sometimes thousands of meters deep. The resulting hot water is siphoned into a resort and provide Massage, Spa-pools, Swim-pools and other health services. Their mountain locations are full of clean air and the natural countryside by itself is enough to give a sense of well-being. Badwaltersdorf is one such Village.
2 days of the body being pampered by the chemicals of the Earth and the Sun of the Universe is enough happiness. Nightly dining with friends and daytime hand in hand walks among streams, squirrels and trees is a bonus. Too early the time comes to depart. But then again there is the rest of Austria. Every place we go I find I would happily settle but is it possible that the next destination: Graz, is even more beautiful than this? |
