St.Petersburg->Petrograd->Leningrad->St.Petersburg

Yes my love! You often had to change your names over the history ... but you always stayed honest and preserved your unique style ... quite different from the rest of mighty Russia. You, St.Pete on the banks of Neva. Having grown on the banks of the River Neva around the fortress, founded in 1703, you became the capital of an immense power by the command of Zar Peter the Great as early as in 1712 and remained the capital of the mighty Russian Empire for two centuries. And you, my dear, you had to change your name several times in your exciting history: Sankt Petesburg, then Petrograd, then Leningrad and finally Sankt Petersburg again or how most of the people say just "St.Pete". You witnessed the events that shaped the future of the whole Russia. So you know all the tricks that have been done ;-) So many famous figures Russia takes pride in are accociated with you, my love. Today you are the second largest and I would say still most importand city in the whole Russia. You are a real treasure store of arts, my dear. The majestic Neva, its stately embankments, your vast squares and vistas of your avenues, the smooth waters of your channels, and the intricate metalwork of the ornaments of your railings, and your elegant palaces and architectural ensembles, your intensive tempo of modern but still passionate city life ... and your particular bars, and your friendly people, my dear. All make up you this unique and unforgettable city ... I love you ! ... Why are you so far away ?

Enchancing Winter in St. Pete ...

Just a look at the Monument to Catharine the Great, that mighty woman, 1862 - 1873, designed by M. Mikeshin, sculptors M. Chizkov, A. Opekushin, achitects D. Grimm and W. Schroeter. Behind the Pushkin Drama Theater (formaly Alexandrinsky). 1928 - 1832, architect C. Rossi

Sunny Springtime in St. Pete ...

The famous Winter Palace and contemporary State Hermitage, 1754 - 1762, architect F. Rastrelli.
In summertime lots of people come here around at the Neva to watch the beautiful sundown, to drink a glass of champaign and to give each other a first sundown kiss ...

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful, enchancing, amazing ... and the people
  • Cons:Partly expensive, partly dangerous ... but ok ...
  • In a nutshell:The northernmost south ... The place to be in Russia for bohemians ... for business sake Moscow is a better address
