Ramada Waterfront Hotel - Houghton

Ramada Waterfront Hotel

Ramada Waterfront: A Hotel Across the Waterway

The Ramada Waterfront is a full service hotel, located on the waterfront near the Lift Bridge. The hotel is two-story, and has 51 rooms. The Waterfront Ramada also has an indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub. The rooms contain a coffee maker, refrigerator, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, cable TV, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Besides the standard rooms, you can select rooms with lake views, microwaves, or hot tubs. Although they advertise quite rooms, it is located right next to the Portage Lift Bridge (see photo 2), which is noisy, even at night. Since I have only visited this hotel, and have never stayed over night, I cannot guarantee that you will not hear bridge noise. Pets are not permitted.

Unique Qualities: Every room at the Waterfront Ramada has free wireless Internet access. A free continental breakfast is served each morning, and coffee is available 24 hours a day. There is a restaurant that offers lunch and dinner, and a lounge with a view of the waterway. The Ramada also has conference rooms available for meetings and workshops. In the summer you can enjoy outside seating and boat docks. The hotel is located on a snowmobile trail, if you visit in the winter.

Address: 99 Navy St., Hancock, MI 49930

Comparison: about average

Directions: The Ramada Inn is located in Hancock, directly across the Houghton Lift Bridge from Houghton.

In the park you will find picnicking, hiking and bicycles trails, two miles of sand beach, playground equipment, and a boat ramp. If you have a Michigan fishing license you may fish from the seawall. If you are lucky, and know what you are looking for, you may find agates along the beach.
