Keweenaw Adventure Company - Copper Harbor

Keweenaw Adventure Company

Biking and Kayaking

Using your own bike, or renting one from Keweenaw Adventure Company, ride some of the scenic trails in the area, or just ride around town. Keweenaw Adventure will rent you mountain bikes, comfort bikes, or kids bikes for 2 hours, half day, or full day. You may purchase maps and find out about trail information for adventuring out on your own, or you may take one of their sponsored tours. These bike tours are scheduled by reservation and there is a two person minimum for each led trip. There are three types of rides you may choose from. For a challenging and scenic single track trail take the Copper Harbor Singletrack led trip, which costs $25 with your own bike, and $50 with a rental. The next tour is To the Point, where you will explore the uninhabited backcountry and the shore line of Lake Superior on Keweenaw Point. This led tour is $35 with your own bike, and $65 with a rental. The Surf-n-Turf tour is a combination of land and sea. You will spend a half a day kayaking and a half a day mountain biking. Lunch is included in this tour. This can be scheduled as a one day event or a two day adventure. The cost is $115 with your own bike and $140 with a rental. The Keweenaw Adventure Company also leads weekly group rides on Thursday evenings at no cost for the rider, other than bike rental if you do not have your own bike. These are generally rated as rides for intermediate and advanced riders.

If you wish to rent a kayak and go out on your on own, you will be required to take the Fundamental Water Safety Course which is led by ACA Certified Instructors and will teach paddle strokes, braces, rescues, and safety for Lake Superior paddling. The cost is $69 and includes the lessons, kayak, and all equipment including a wet suit.

Please note that all prices listed were updated as of August 2007.

Golfing and Other Sports

In and near Copper you can enjoy golf, boating, hiking, fishing, swimming if the harbor is warm enough, snorkeling and diving (with wet suit), snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. For golfing you will need transportation to the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, which is one mile south of Copper Harbor on highway 1. This golf course is a 9-hole Bent grass course. This course has no sand bunkers, but there is a pond that comes into play on hole #6 and the wind may become a major factor.
