An obliged visit for those who are visiting Amsterdam. The grey and dull building has nothing to do with the colourful and original works ketp inside. Here you can admire the works of one of the most famous painters. You can see drawings, paintigns, letters... Will be hard to try not to take one of them away. You’ll have to settle for a poster : )

One of the most important museums in the world. Here you can see very important works of all times by Rembrandt, Veermer and much more. When you are out of the museum you have to rest a bit after the hard impression of having seen so important works. The building itself is also interesting to see from the outside.

After a cultural visit to the museums you can relax in this nice park wich is very close to the art museums. This park was open in 1865 and was created like the English parks style. This is a place to read, to walk, to just lay in the grass. Inside this park is the Cinema Museum. In the summer there are concerts held in the park too. The name of the park is due to the sculpture of Joost van den Vondel, a very famous theatre author.

One of the things I liked the most about Amsterdam is the peace you breath by walking along the 3 canals: Prinsengracht, Herengracht and Singel. These are nice walkigns while you can admire beautiful mansions, floating houses and more...

Without a doubt Herengracht is the most beautiful of the three. Here lived the most importan tradesmen. Here you can see the most ancient warehouse (year 1.600) in the numbers 43-45. The number 54 is also a very intresting building (House for a Prince), number 475 “The channel’s jewel”. In Singel channel you can see in the number 7 the narrowest building in the city, a little wider than the main door. In the numbers 2, 36, 76 and 83 you see uncommon façades.

For me it was the most interesting place I visited when I was in Amsterdam. While walking through the rooms you can’t help thinking what took place there and not only inside these walls but in other places like the concentrations camps. I think everybody should go there to get aware of it so nothing like that happens again.

It’s interesting to see it at night when it’s lit up. It’s one of the most photografied things in Amsterdam. It’s a copy of the one there was there in the XVIIth century.

If you want to see a windmill and don’t want to go out of the city you can do it at Funenkade. It’s the most central windmill in Amsterdam and was built in 1725. Now it’s a bar.

Amsterdam is a city I'd like to visit & it's so close to Paris that it's possible sometime. All those sights like the tulips and canals are really beautiful. Very nice page and photos, Jose! Love the intro. photo-like a painting! |
