Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Germany

by TinKan - last update: May 14, 2003

The main reason for the stop here was for food, gas and a hat pin for my collection.

This was the place that the US military had a vacation spot for its troops that were serving in the overseas area for many years. Most of the places are now closed.

Take a look around and see some of the great wooden buildings.. they area so beautiful and you can see that the craftsman took great pride in his work.

It's a war memorial for the Franco Prussian war & german unification in 1871. Earlier this year it was bedecked with candles to remember the losses of four wars. Franco Prussian, WW1 & WW2 are three. I guess the fourth was Napoleonic but don't quote me.

My grandmother was from here, but I don't expect to ever get over there, so it was fun seeing your lovely pages. My husband would love the wood craftsmanship. Thanks

Isn't that just the way - you see something awesome, then when you get back with your camera it's clouded over! I really like the architecture here.

Nice page and inyeresting Onion domes style houses - different than on Russian orthodox churches.
