This little town is the gateway to Schloß Herrenchiemsee. Take some time to look around the town and see some of the sights that are around here.

The town is very busy with tourist and some of the prices are a bit high in the summer months but a walk around does not cost anything.

In Prien you can take a 19th century steam-train for a 2 km-ride from the station to the pier for boats to the islands. more travel advice

Great page about this cute town on Lake Chiemsee with great photos...as always! And some yummy ice-cream! I think it's not only expensive during the summer months there, but all year round...but it's worth it!
