Alcobaça is a small town situated about 100 km to the north of Lisbon in an agricultural region dotted with gentle hills in the district of Leiria. The two rivers, the Alcoa and the Baca, that run through the town gave the town its name of Alcobaça.
Is one of the few European cities that have managed to preserve intact an entire group of mediaeval buildings and its church, which is one of the largest early Gothic constructions in Portugal. |
