| | Sintra is located just 15 km up the mountains from Cascais and 30 km from Lisbon.
Sintra and Pena Palace was the summer residence for the royalty of Portugal so many years ago. The Pena palace is located at the very top of the hill behind the old town of Sintra.
The history of Sintra goes back to the days of the Mours. There is a Morish castle on top of the hill above the town that you can visit and walk along the walls. The view from there is awesome. |
Today the town is more or less a place for the tourist with shops selling local crafts of every sort from around Portugal.
There are so many restaurants that you can never go hungry. | | |
