The city of Dachau is more famous for the World War 2 concentration camp than anything else but there is more to see than just the camp.
The town is very beautiful and is well laid out with a good public transportation system.
We did not get to see much of the downtown area of the city as we decided to focus on the camp and its history in the short amount of time we had here.
- Pros:History, informative
- Cons:strong feelings
- In a nutshell:A must if you are in the area.

I agree with you that this is a part of history and it should be told. It must never be forgotten.
Yes, it's definetely part of our history... although sad.
Unbelievable what happened here. Hope those times will never return !
The palace in Dachau is also amazing with a beautiful garden - but 99% of the visitors just see the Nazi camp...
I have seen the camp 5 years ago, it is terrible !
Strong feelings indeed. I only visited the camp when I went, not the town. To think that the camp was active less than 60 years ago is frightening. A very moving page.
Great, sensitive approach to this somber place. We should never forget . . .
A very sobering visit for me, I couldn't stay long, just to emotional after seeing the film and the photos.
We also visited Dachau...the weather was grey and dreary...perfect for the location... Such a sad place!
A nice homage to the ones that perished there. Could not visit Dachau, but was able to visist another death camp outside Berlin
