I entered Iraq in February 1991, to help remove the Saddam's Iraqi army from Kuwait. After the cease fire I was 'stationed' just north of Safwan at the truce site. Our detachment assisted in Humanitarian Relief operations for the 60,000 refugees who fled into Safwan. We also broadcast messages to neighboring villages warning of the dangers of unexploded munitions. The people of the region were very friendly to us, and I would like to go back and see the area someday.
