Monuments, Museums, History

Washington Monument

DC to me . . .

DC is the place you take your family to go see all the museums and to learn more about our country's history.

It also has some great nightlife, concerts, sports, a gigantic new convention center, and good food.

The metro system is the nicest I've ever been on. Santiago was the closest to it in cleanliness. However, DCs system is far more useful than Santiago's was.
Cherrry Trees and Blossoms

Cherry Blossom Festival

Every spring DC holds a Cherry Blossom Festival. I've yet to participate in the activities, but the people-watching and tree-looking are nice.
Thomas Jefferson

Monuments, Memorials, Museums

The Washington Monument, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial are the biggest and most recognizable monuments in downtown DC.

Then you have the war memorials: World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and Korea.

After you have tired your feet trekking to these sites, you can visit the many musems around the national mall.

Smithsonians
Most of these museums are free to the public --what more could a traveler ask?
