"Lovely English City" Bristol by Alisonchilla

One of my good friends is studying for her PhD at the University of Bristol. It's quite a nice place -- hilly in spots, but plenty to do and see. Bristol is almost due west of London, on the border of Wales. It's an easy trip by bus from Heathrow to Bristol, and another easy bus ride to Bath, which I also visited. England is easy to get around and full of historical sights. The only bummer is the exchange rate --OUCH!

My friend also happens to be a historian specializing in church sculpture. So of course we had to go see the cathedral.

Bridge Description

I believe this is one of the first, if not THE first suspension bridges built. An engineering feat!

• Pros:The university gives this town a youthful feel.
• Cons:The pound is worth more than the dollar. Ow!
• In a nutshell:A jolly good time.
