This is a town that embodies the best and worst of small town America. In many ways it clings to the provincial past; rustic and somewhat isolated, it resists too much change, even for the good. If you weren't born here, you're always new, no matter how long you live here. And yet, the people are mostly friendly and polite and accomodating, the crime rate relatively low (though our crimes have become increasingly odd and cinematic, ie. chainsaw killings, etc.) the public schools are above average (the teachers are paid worse than menial labor, ergo they are mostly dedicated and focused professionals)and yes, there is a Super Wal-Mart...I't not far from Nashville to the North and Huntsville, Ala to the south and some of its views are beautiful, if not spectacular. The food is southern good (if you don't know what that means ask Julia Roberts), the motels clean and reasonable...we have a college (Martin Methodist University) and the girls high school softball team are the state champs...You can't swing a cat without hitting a church (though at last count we had a minute Jewish population and few Cahtolics). We have a fair, a bluegrass festival, talent and beauty shows and a pretty decent local theatre...so it's a pretty cool place to raise kids and sit on your front porch...ya'll come.
