Ireland- Where Time Stands Still

by HAWLEYJ - last update: Sep 11, 2002

I took a trip to Ireland while studying at Oxford, England. It was a short hop away by plane or "vomit rocket" across the channel, but it sure had its own personality!

Enter a land where work and relaxation are intertwined, the beer is a national treasure, and you can ALWAYS find a friend to give you a lift.

My trip started in Dublin, then bused down the eastern coast, hitchhiked to Glendelough, hitchiked again to Killarny, took another bus to Doolin, took a post (mail) "bus" to Limerick, and ended up again back in Dublin. What an adventure! All this in 4-5 days, from what I remember. There may have even been a few other towns located in there, such as the town where Ballykissangel is recorded.

Sit back, draw yourself a fresh Guinness, and enjoy the 119.5 seconds it takes to pour the perfect pint. We're in no hurry. After all- it's Ireland.

wonderful areas you visited. The Cliffs of Moher are quite spectacular but good warnings. Sounds like you saw a lot just walking... Best wishes for a great birthday
