The wooden city in Syberia I was in Tomsk in my business trip. Almost al time I spent in the job and had a time for walking only in evenings. But in the morning I might fly back to Moscow there was a problem with a plane and the flight was delayed for a day. Surprisingly I had an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful city. Tomsk was founded in 1604 due to the special order by Boris Godunov to make stronger the Eastern borders of Russian empire. In 1804 Tomsk became the capital of the region including many territories around (if to see nowadays there were Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul regions of Russia and some parts of Eastern Kazakhstan regions). But after the railways were placed to the south from Tomsk the city became to lose its general positions in eceonomy (that was begun in the end of XIX century). In 1937 Tomsk was a part of Novosibirsk region but in 1944 Tomsk became the capital of Tomsk region again. Among last events were the decision to make Tomsk the center of innovation in Russia as well as Russian-German meeting in 2004 with Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel. |
