The city from glass and steel I was in Rotterdam with one day trip and I liked my journey very much. In spite of it was raining in the morning when I came, in the second half of the day it was quite ok and even sunny in the streets. I was surprised how modern the city is. The reason is the city was completely destroyed during World War II. The place was a home for fishermen in XIII century. Officially the name was given in 1328 by Willem III king. The city was urned down several times in XIV-XV centuries in different wars. In XVI century the importance became growing because other cities in the region was blocked by French and English troops. New harbor was built in the city in XVII century and since those times the harbor is one of the famous ones in the world. |

I was once in Rotterdam with my parents, but this was more than 25 years ago. :-) | Kuznetsov_Sergey Tue Jul 25, 2006 08:20 UTC You've done one more important step in a way along Netherland. Rotterdam suffered from bombig most of all Dutch cityes... Nevertheless I'm sure you enjoyed your visit there. Thanks for tips and pics. My Rotterdam-page is waiting for its turn... | Mariajoy Tue Jul 25, 2006 07:11 UTC Hi Andrey! Looks like you saw more of this city than I did and you had better weather! Great page, well done!!
