Thinking to stay in The Hague, I searched a hotel ad by chance I booked the hotel in Scheveningen. I like the place. Well, who didn't? The town is on the sea coast and every evening I was in the beach to enjoy the sea. The name Scheveningen was first mentioned in the end of XIII century. All time throughout the history it is a town of fishmen. The most famous event related with Scheveningen happened in August 10, 1654, when there was a fight between Dutch and English fleet that could be observed from the coast (guidebooks said that the thousands of people came to see it). In 1818 Jacob Pronk turned the history of the town to other direction when built 4 rooms on the coast that people could swim in the sea. Since then Scheveningen is very popuar place to have vacations on the Northern Sea, mostly for Dutch and Germans. |
