by bugulma - last update: Feb 28, 2006

The city I'd like to see in spring

Nemiga area
In February 23-25, while it was holidays in Russia, I spent wonderful weekend in Minsk.
Minsk mentioned firstly in 1067. Soon the city was took under control by Kiev's duke. In the beginning of XIV century the new history page is open for Minsk, the city was joined to Lithuania Kingdom. In 1793 Minsk became the part or Russian Empire and then the part of USSR. Since 1991 Minsk is the capital of independent Belarus'.
Melting in the street

Spring is coming

So, the first spring spirit I had in Minsk in 2006. So, I have two springs of the year now, in Minsk and in Moscow :-)

This depicts a wonderful and proud city. It stands up to the best. Very good pictures and comments.

Certainly looks very cold when you were there, not used to the cold like that in australia.

Nice snowy photos in your travelogue and tips. But I'm sure it would be very pleasant in the spring, too. -- Greetings from sunny Frankfurt am Main.

The churches are so beautiful--they certainly add alot to the streetscape of Minsk. Nice to drop in....have a good week.
