In every article and city guide about the city I read about University. To be true (shame on me?) I didn't see the university and the most time of mine I spent in the old city enjoying the architecture. It was my day-trip journeu from Stuttgart. It was nice mild-weather a bit-snowing day. I liked the city's calm atmosphere, at least in the old city districts near of the railway station. Tuebingen has almost a millennium of history, with the castle, the historic Old Town and the medieval buildings. In 1078 Tuebingen was mentioned in writing for the first time, and in the middle of the 13th century Tuebingen achieved town status and civil liberty. In the beginning of XVI century the city fell under control of Baden Wurttemberg. Towards the end of the 15th century Count Eberhard im Barte founded the university. |

HORSCHECK Tue Oct 28, 2008 22:35 UTC Tübingen seems to be a popular travel destination in Germany for foreigners, only I haven't been there yet. I just hope you haven't eaten too many cakes in the bakery at the corner. | willy_wonka Wed Apr 18, 2007 05:20 UTC a fantastic page andrey! i loved seeing the city scenes, all covered in snow! i wish i could experience a city with snow one day in my life! :) | LoriPori Tue Dec 19, 2006 23:15 UTC Interesting page on Tubingen Andrey, especially the Hohentuebingen Castle.
