Abu Dhabi is the largest Emirate of the United Arab Emirates, comprising 80% of its land mass. It is the only oil producing emirate and is mainly a desert.
However, the city of Al Ain, which is the summer capital of the emirate and is loacted about 150 kms east of the capital city of Abu Dhabi, is an oasis city. It also boasts of the highest mountain peak in the United Arab Emirates - Al Hafeet.
Abu Dhabi is the name of the capital city also. It is the second most populous city of the United Arab Emirates after Dubai. We lived there from 1999 to 2004 and during this period the city witnessed major construction of mega retail malls, hotels, islands and highways. |
