Abu Dhabi is the largest Emirate of the United Arab Emirates, comprising 80% of its land mass. It is the only oil producing emirate and is mainly a desert.
However, the city of Al Ain, which is the summer capital of the emirate and is loacted about 150 kms east of the capital city of Abu Dhabi, is an oasis city. It also boasts of the highest mountain peak in the United Arab Emirates - Al Hafeet.
Abu Dhabi is the name of the capital city also. It is the second most populous city of the United Arab Emirates after Dubai. We lived there from 1999 to 2004 and during this period the city witnessed major construction of mega retail malls, hotels, islands and highways.
- Pros:Land of oases and deserts, excellent infrastructure
- Cons:Tourism not as promoted as by Dubai.
- In a nutshell:A haven for traveler wishing road less traveled.

You captured the essence of the area very nicely. It has a lot of the wealth of UAE, but also have accomplished a lot in development to a new era of building. Nice work for the viewers.

Thanks Faiza, I have a friend in Abu Dhabi at the moment and has lived there for the last year and a bit. She is from India and said even this place she feels the heat.... I understood what she meant as NZ is starting heat up more nowdays.
