Franschhoek is a small town (maybe no more than 6,000 inhabitants) about 40 minutes drive north east of Cape Town. Originally settled by French Hugenots (hence the name - French Corner) it is now a gourmet travellers paradise. Small, boutique wineries, small gourmet bistros and restaurants and some lovely places to stay. Oh, and wonderful mountain scenery just in case all that isn't enough. |
