The story of Sint Anna ter Muiden

You wonder about the story behind this beautiful city?? Well.. I better tell it then!!

The prince Vergald had seen a nice looking place near where he went to propose a princess from Sluis. After being turned down by the royal beauty, the rich prince wanted to buy this little place to set in his troops and take over the piece of land that he would not get after being turned down from marriage that would have done of him even a more wealthy man. The greed blinded his eyes and if he couldn't get the Sluis with Ter Muiden, then he decided to atleast get the last part.
The centre of Ter Muiden was a church.. A fine looking piece of art with beautiful 4 little towers in each corner of the church tower. The man of God was brought face to face with prince Vergald, where he asked the preest to sell the church to him and offered to build a newer, bigger and fancier church to replace this old one that already had a leaking roof and needed a fixing from few places.

But the preest told that he can never sell the place, because it is not his, but belongs to the God and the church has builded to a place where a white dove landed in the middle of a war 359 years ago to ease up the suffer and pain in the battleground, giving new hope to the ones who were still fighting over their fathers land. Because of the white dove, the people of Ter Muiden won back their ground and builded a church to the white dove's honour...

Ter Muiden

Nonsense!!!! Shouted the prince.. I don't believe a word!! I want some proof that something like this is existing!
During his rage against the priest and church, he gathered some men from army and asked to load the weapons which gave him a chance to start to tear down the church.. "If I can't have it, then no one can!!!" The first huuge piece of stome was hit to the left little tower that existed on the top of the church.. it crashed down..Prince was very pleased and had a big smile across his face, he was happy to have atleast some kind of revenge. Next shot hit down two towers... and it left the church looking quite misreable.

After the dust had calmed down a bit and Vergald could see the damage he had done.. one tower was still up and men started to load the sling again to continue the destroing..
Out of the dust coud appeared a white dove who made a circle over everyones head and after that a circle around the church, finally landing to the reamined tower. No one couldn't believe it was true. The white bird stretched his wings and flew then right infron to the prince, looking straight to his eyes...

Prince Vergald left the city to never return and lived a quiet life alone in a thick forest till the end of his life.. thinking of what he saw on that sunny day in Ter Muiden.....
