Belmont is a very pretty suburb of Boston. I stayed with my friend's dad while trying to find a job in Boston. It's quite "suburban" - so you don't get the "youthfulness" or fast pace of Boston (Cambridge and Somerville for example). There is a small lake near Belmont High School which is nice to jog or walk around. Belmont Center has some small shops, post office, coffee, and diner....
